Are you interested in being a trainer and assessor? The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

This qualification (or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it) is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.

In general, to achieve your TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you will need to:

  1. Obtain and understand underpinning knowledge, required to answer knowledge questions, using the Learner Guide
  2. Demonstrate your knowledge and skills, through the completion of practical assessment activities
  3. Successfully complete the requirements set out in the Assessment Workbooks

Those currently in industry may already hold much of the underpinning knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competency.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

COURSE DURATION

Learners are given up to 18 months to complete the course.

Structure: Self-paced delivery method

Overview: Our Self-Paced delivery is designed for those who need a flexible learning structure. This delivery method is entirely an online, self-managed approach to the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Features: The Self-paced delivery method is completed in your own time, at your own pace and is ideally suited to highly motivated self-starters who have some industry knowledge and experience. We provide our Learners support throughout the learning-pathway via, introduction videos, telephone, email, and our industry leading online Discussion Forums.

Additionally, all learners have access to complimentary presentation days which help learners complete tasks which require group facilitation.

Attendance Method: Virtual Classroom or Physically in Class 
Structure: 3, individual 5-day workshops

Overview: Our Blended Delivery method is HBA’s most comprehensive way to complete the TAE40122 –  Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This delivery method offers an approach consisting of 3 by 5 days workshops. Learners are then required to continue their learning and complete their assessment tasks in their own time and at their own pace.
You have 2 choices to attend the 15 day delivery;

  • face to face in the training room at a HBA venue, or
  • through our online virtual classroom from the comfort of your own home or office

Even if you attend in the actual classroom, you will still be required to logon to the virtual classroom as your trainer will be bring together all participants, face-to-face and virtually. If you would like to know more about the virtual classroom an explanation is provided ‘Virtual Classroom’ tab below.

Features: Our Blended Delivery method is HBA’s most comprehensive way to complete the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This delivery method offers an approach consisting of 3 by 5 days workshops. Learners are then required to continue their learning and complete their assessment tasks in their own time and at their own pace.

The workshops are separated into three (3) weeks; Cluster 1, Cluster 2 & Cluster 3. These workshops can be attended in consecutive weeks or spread over a period of time suited to your needs.

During the workshop, learners are introduced to the elements of each unit and provided the opportunity for skill development and practice through group learning activities and completion of selected practical assessment tasks. You will also be involved in role-plays and the commencement of small group and/or individual learning activities under the support, guidance and supervision of a qualified and experienced TAE trainer.

This delivery method also includes a self-paced component. Upon completion of the workshops you will be required to complete the remaining practical work and the knowledge questions workbook.

How can you attend our workshops?

Cluster 1 and 3 may be attend either face-to-face or through the virtual classroom.

Cluster 2 may be attend either face-to-face or virtually. Please note – tasks undertaken in Cluster 2 require face-to-face (live) facilitation of training to a minimum of four (4) adult learners. Participants attending virtually must have access to the required number of participants.

Overview: There is two delivery options which can be chosen with the Virtual Classroom for the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Both the Self-paced PLUS and the Blended options are available.

Each Virtual Classroom has a host location in which your trainer will be facilitating from and will co-exist with a face-to-face classroom.

HBA’s Virtual Classroom uses online virtual platforms including, GoToMeeting, Microsoft TEAMS or ZOOM to allow learners to connect to the Trainer and other learners in a virtual setting. Once you enrol you will be sent a confirmation email which has a link for you to download your workbooks and resources, plus a link to the Student forum. A Welcome email will be sent to you by your trainer a few days prior to the course commencing which will have the links that will allow you to login to the Virtual Classroom.

You and the trainer and all the other participants will be able to see and hear each other interact through out the workshops. You will be shown the features of the virtual classroom and all its benefits and as you progress through the course, you will start using the platform to deliver your own presentations and assessment. Our trainers will provided you with all the help you need to get connected and stay connected.

What will you need to access the Virtual Classroom: To log on to the virtual classroom you don’t need to be a computer Wizz-kid. After enrolment we will provide you step by step instructions which are simple to follow. You will need to have a modern computer that has internet access, it also needs to have a web cam and microphone that the other participants and the trainer can see and hear you on. Whilst laptops a perfect for this purpose, we would recommended that you have at least one other computer monitor/screen connected to your computer, as you will have many documents and web-browser windows open at the same time, it will help you to “virtually” spread out your material.

Need somewhere quiet? At HBA we understand that a quiet place can be hard to come by. To help with this, HBA is opening its North Sydney learning center to those who want somewhere quiet to attend the virtual classroom. Additionally, a technical support person will also be available to you during the workshop should you need it.

Cost: $400 initial assessment and $300 per unit

The remaining price will be confirmed after the assessment of your evidence has been completed. If you enrol in the course after your RPL has been assessed, this $400 fee is deducted from the course cost.

  • Ensure you meet the entry requirement. If you do not meet the requirement, please contact HBA to discuss
