10 Mar Work Health and Safety and Covid-19
As we all work our way out of the Covid-19 disaster which has seen so many people get very sick and long standing businesses close, we note the increased demand for the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification.
If we consider the core unit BSBWHS414 – Contribute to WHS risk management we note there are 6 Elements of Learning which in turn have 26 items of Performance Criteria (what you need to know and be able to do to be found Competent) and nearly all of these can be related to Covid19.
The elements of Learning are:
1. Access information and data used to identify hazards, and to assess and control risks
2. Contribute to identifying risk management requirements and compliance
3. Contribute to workplace hazard identification
4. Contribute to WHS risk assessment
5. Contribute to developing and implementing risk controls
6. Contribute to evaluating effectiveness of risk controls
We find it interesting that when we chat to people on the phone and we do that hundreds of times each week, we note very large companies have introduced Covid-19 into their risk assessment and hazard identification process but as we move down stream to smaller companies we find many have not yet done so. It is worth remembering that whilst we have seen a huge reduction in Covid-19 cases of recent times, there are still many thousands diagnosed with the virus each and every day, it has not been eradicated. As a country there has been a total of 3,449,404 cases as of 8/3/22 and the 7 day average for our country is 26,900. Source https://covidlive.com.au/
